Deadly blasts hit Somalia mosque

Two blasts inside a mosque in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Saturday killed at least 30 people and injured more than 70. The target of the attack is believed to be Fouad Mohamed Khalif, a senior member of al-Shabab, an anti-government group that holds control over most of Somalia. He frequently delivered speeches at that specific mosque, reports said. Residents suspect the violence is part of a growing new conflict between two main anti-government groups in the country. However, al-Sahab spokesman blamed the attack on foreign security companies that he claimed wanted to massacre Muslims. Roza Ibragimova reports. [May 2, 2010]
