Mogadishu, (insidesomalia.org) The Security forces advanced and raided in on Sunday into three radio stations in Mogadishu, say witness
"Somali Security forces have today wagged a search operation inside three radio stations in the Bakara Market" said government official speaking to InsideSomalia.org.
Government Security forces have apprehended briefly the reporters and the staff of Radio Simba, a FM radio in Mogadishu.
"They have confiscated some of our equipments including Audio-mixer, three computer screens, a laptop, two Audio tape recorders, two digital cameras and four studio microphones" said Abdikafi Dau’ud, head of technical section of Radio Simba speaking to insidesomalia.org.
"Government official have badly beaten Abdi-aziz Hussein Hassan "dueysane", a prominent journalist and a member of Radio Simba's staff" said Hussein Mohamed 'Khoje", deputy of managing and marketing section of Radio Simba.
It is the fourth time that security forces entered Radio Simba and threatened, arrested or apprehended briefly some of its staff members including journalists, reporters and editors.
"They threatened that they will kill us" said Bashir Khalif Ghani, one of the prominent reporters of Radio Simba.
Also, Security forces have entered Radio Shabelle and had confiscated equipments including three Audio-mixers, three computers and a large audio tape recorder.
"Also, they have driven away the general director of Radio Shabelle Mukhtar Mohamed Hirabe believed that they arrested him later" said Nimo Hassan, a well-known reporter used to work for Shabelle Radio.
Radio HornAfrik was also ordered shut down and put off air by government security forces, said a reporter.
"At least eight journalists were killed, five wounded and 42 others were arrested in the 2007. Four journalists are being detained by government forces in the capital Mogadishu, for unknown reasons, according to the Somali Coalition for Free Expression, which organized the press freedom day 21st January 2007, issued a report detailing violations against the media in 2007.
Speaking on that occasion Somali Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein said that his government would stop media crack down and restore freedom of press.
"Violations against media will be over starting from today and we will improve our relations with the media" said the prime minister
It becomes hard for the Journalists do their job in Somalia since Somalia becomes second to Iraq where journalists are killed, tortured, arrested and harassed
