Torrential Rains Affect Displaced People in Hiran Region in Central Somalia

Hiran,(insidesomalia.org)-Heavy downpour was experience in some parts of Hiran region in central Somalia from yesterday till mid last night, and this rain has at large affected internal displaced people living in makeshift abodes in the region particularly in Baladweyn town the headquarters.

There was halt to the vehicles using a long the road between Baladweyn to the rest of the southern parts of the country due to over floods and mud.

Some of the area where it rained cats and dogs includes, Buq aqaba, Mahas districts and El-Ali location.

There are some lorries loaded with goods, which are up to know stucked in the road between Bakool and Hiran region.

“During the rainy seasons we suffer a lot we would not be able to drive the trucks as we want to do because of mud everywhere, frequent punctures of tyers and vulnerability of overturning” said Gedi Ali speaking to inside Somalia website.

The most seriously affected people are those internal displaced people living in the shanty house which cannot refrain itself from the drops of the rain, and so far there are no international and local organization who have distributed rainproof plastic sheets to these people.

This rain came when the people in the area were at the same rate level touched by acute drought, which has claimed the lives of both human and animals.
