Baidoa, (insidesomalia.org)-At least one woman was killed Wednesday in the south-central Somali town of Baidoa after a remotely-detonated bomb went off near an army convoy, witnesses said.
No soldier was hurt in the blast, but four civilian bystanders were wounded and rushed to the Baidoa hospital.
The blast happened at the money exchange center in Baidoa, where there was a crowd gathered, according to local sources.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion but Baidoa police sources linked the attack to insurgent groups waging war on Somalia's interim government and its foreign military backers.
In the capital Mogadishu, insurgent fighters armed with rocket launchers and machineguns attacked Somali soldiers and African Union peacekeepers.
Military sources said no one was wounded in the battle, which ended when insurgents retreated back to their hideouts.
