Written by Mohamed Omar Hussein
Tuesday, 27 May 2008

Kismayu,(insidesomalia.org)-Armed tribal militiamen took control of the University of the Southern Seaport Town of Kismayu some 500km from the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The University of Juba personnel including the professors have shown great anxiety over these fully armed tribal militiamen at University building.

They have in one voice appealed from the town authorities to intervene this nonsense action by these indiscreet individuals.

“These militias have sabotage the University properties they have smashed the door and window glasses, we have no solution to take them out for we are lecturers we are not armed” Mohamed Ahmed Warsame the head of the Juba University in Kismayu town.

Still there are no comments from Kismayu administration regarding the seizure of these militias at the University.

It is the second time for militias to conquer education centers in Kismayu town.

The transitional federal government of Somalia is not operative in Kismayu town, and militias under no man’s control have several times interrupted the activities in the seaport, establish way lays in every section of the town the prefer.
