peaking in Nairobi during a meeting with Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, visiting Egyptian Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mona Omar Attia, said her country was keen to work with Kenya particularly in supplying humanitarian assistance to Somalia.
The Horn of Africa country has been without an effective central government for many years and the transitional Somali government has been facing an insurgency from Islamic militia which control large swathe of southern and central part of the war-ravaged nation. Attia noted that her country was already assisting the two with foodstuff and medical supplies.Musyoka called for further consultation on the 1929 Agreement which controls the waters of River Nile. He said there was need for a transparent and exhaustive consultation to ensure that the interests of all countries in the Nile basin are addressed.
